Saurines de la Torre: the desert course next door.
Four kilometres from La Torre, and nothing like it. A long, open Nicklaus desert course that wants the driver out.
The course in a minute
Saurines is a Jack Nicklaus Design course that opened in 2011, a par 72 laid out in desert style. It sits in Roldán, a few minutes from La Torre, and it used to be called Terrazas de la Torre, so you may still see that name on older scorecards and maps.
Where La Torre is short and fiddly, Saurines is the big one of the local courses: about 6,470 metres off the whites, which is just over 7,000 yards. From the yellows it's closer to 5,950 metres. Expect wide desert-style fairways, waste areas and native planting rather than lush parkland.
